Watkins Hire solves heating challenge
19 October 2009
A veterinary surgery in Leamington Spa was able to remain open when faced with having to be without domestic hot water for a week, after hiring a solution from Watkins Hire, which specialises in temporary heating and cooling equipment.

When the Rainsbrook Veterinary Group practice found that its boiler system required essential maintenance work, staff thought they would have to close for a week because of hygiene requirements. However, Watkins Hire, which has depots throughout the country, was able to provide a portable emergency hot water tank to provide water for hand washing.
Connecting to a cold-water tap, the tank resembles a yellow wheelie bin and is simply wheeled into place before being plugged into an ordinary 13A socket. Its 3kW immersion heater can then heat up to 55 litres of water to a temperature of 60°C within an hour. The heated water stays hot for up to 24 hours, and even when unplugged the temperature loss is less than half a degree per hour.
