walk away from the hilti deal. (the one where you cant sell their equipment?)

we walked away. we use tornado now for everything fixings wise.

what are your thoughts on the hilti deal?

we dint like the "pay for a grinder over 3 years" kind of deal

We closed our Hilti account yesterday & will have no further dealings with them. We are fed up with their attitude of what they will & will not sell to us,the final straw being their refusal to sell us some resin. They quoted our customer full list price of nearly £3k & would not budge on price, now I`m all for keeping prices up but this takes the pi** given that we followed MattDolans lead & sourced from Tornado for less than a third of the price. It would seem to me that if a Hilti product is specified then they have a monopoly & can charge what they like !

well done for standing your ground. it was a strange way of doing business. we've lost only one order when a customer has specified hilti products. you should have heard the conversation. we rang up first quoting account no etc. they said are that our account was closed. then we phoned up saying that we were an end user. they wouldn't serve us because they guessed that we were the hire company that rang up 5 mins ago asking for same equipment.it was hilarious. how stupid does that make them look? i.e. will sell to anyone in the world apart from a hire company that will sell to an end user. i wonder how turning this business away has affected them in the crunch. have they had to make redundancies? if so, would the staff have grounds to sue them.

i cant see hilti selling much equipment at the moment with lack of work about.
